His wry sense of humour always made long meetings more bearable, and any commentary or notes he made were regularly sprinkled with Latin aphorisms, a talent for which he was well known. Mark’s knowledgeable and professional approach to challenging tree-related issues was appreciated by anyone who worked with him. We all relied on his experience and sage advice whenever we needed a degree of certainty, and he always offered this with great kindness, particularly to the younger members of our team finding their way in the world of professional consultancy. His experience in Public Enquiries, Planning Hearings and court work as an expert witness earned him the respect of his profession and his clients.

Mark was a sociable character and after-hours ‘team meetings’ in the pub were invariably accompanied by a pint of Guinness and a good story. We will miss Mark as both a dear friend and a valued colleague.”
